About the role

As a Building Control Officer - Processing, you'll assess building consent applications for residential and commercial projects, reviewing plans, specifications, and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with the Building Act, Building Code, and related legislation.

You'll manage a varied workload, delivering accurate and timely processing outcomes, and play a key role in maintaining quality and consistency across the consenting process. You'll also support a shared duty officer function, providing technical advice to customers, internal teams, and stakeholders.

In addition, you'll contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support Building Consent Authority (BCA) accreditation requirements, helping strengthen systems, processes, and overall team performance.

About you

You're a detail-focused building professional with strong technical knowledge and a commitment to quality and customer service. You're confident interpreting plans and applying legislative requirements, and you take a practical, solutions-focused approach to your work.

You'll also bring:

• A tertiary qualification in Building Control Surveying (or equivalent)
• Experience interpreting building plans and technical documentation
• Sound knowledge of the Building Code and relevant legislation
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly
• Good report writing skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to manage workloads, meet deadlines, and work methodically
• A collaborative approach and ability to build effective working relationships.
