About the Role

We are on the search for an experienced and creative Events Marketing Lead. This is an exciting opportunity for a marketing professional who enjoys bringing campaigns to life, collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, and making a tangible impact on the community.

As the Events Marketing Lead, you will lead the planning and delivery of integrated marketing programmes that promote Council-led events, major events, venues, and mayoral functions. You'll oversee campaign development across digital, print, social media, and live channels, ensuring a consistent and engaging experience for residents, visitors, and stakeholders.

Working collaboratively across the Venue and Events team, you will help increase event attendance, strengthen community participation, and showcase everything that makes Whangārei a great place to be!

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and delivery of integrated marketing campaigns for Council events, festivals, venues, and civic functions.
• Create and manage compelling content across digital, social, web, and print channels to drive engagement and attendance.
• Champion Whangārei's brands and promotional platforms to strengthen community pride, participation, and awareness.
• Manage campaign budgets, performance reporting, and stakeholder relationships to deliver successful marketing outcomes.
• Provide leadership to the Promotions and Ticketing Coordinator and a pool of casual venue and event staff.
• Role model and foster a team culture aligned with Councils Tikanga, Mission and Vision.

Ideally you will bring:

• Minimum of Level 5 qualification in Marketing/Communications or equivalent professional experience.
• At least three years' experience in a marketing role in a related industry.
• Proven experience delivering successful campaigns across digital, print, social and live channels.
• Experience coaching and supporting staff to achieve shared outcomes.
• Strong digital content creation, and storytelling skills.
• Strong project management and organisational abilities.
• A collaborative, proactive and solutions-focused approach.
