About Us

Providing potable water, wastewater, stormwater, and flood management services to our district, with networks stretching from Bland Bay in the north to Langs Beach in the south and from Waiotira in the west to Urquharts Bay in the east - our Waters team are committed to delivering quality outcomes for our community.

About the Role

As a Stormwater Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in managing stormwater and flood protection assets across the district. From forward planning and project delivery to compliance and customer engagement, you'll ensure our infrastructure meets both current and future needs.

This is your opportunity to lead meaningful projects that directly impact the wellbeing of our environment and community.

What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you'll take the lead in identifying and developing stormwater and flood mitigation projects that support the long-term sustainability of our district. You'll be responsible for preparing and managing contracts for both professional services and physical works, ensuring they meet our standards and deliver quality outcomes.

You'll oversee the implementation of capital works, making sure everything runs smoothly and stays compliant with resource consents. Your expertise will be called on to provide professional advice on stormwater systems, including design, modelling, and treatment processes.

Collaboration is key—you'll work closely with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to build strong relationships and deliver effective solutions. You'll also support your colleagues' development, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and bring your ideas to cross-organisational projects that help us innovate and grow.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent (minimum requirement).
  • 10+ years of diverse Civil engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on stormwater systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project and contract management.
  • Proficient in stormwater modelling, GIS, CAD/12D, and design review.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) preferred.
  • Membership with Engineering New Zealand preferred.
  • Strong collaborative mindset and a genuine passion for sustainable infrastructure.
