About the Role
Providing potable water, wastewater, stormwater, and flood management services to our district, with networks stretching from Bland Bay in the north to Langs Beach in the south and from Waiotira in the west to Urquhart's Bay in the east - Our Waters team are committed to delivering quality outcomes for our community.
We are now seeking a new Project Manager - Waters, to play a pivotal role in managing vital water infrastructure projects that support the wellbeing and sustainability of our district. This means taking the lead on end-to-end delivery of Waters projects, including level of service improvements and renewals, ensuring they meet Council's standards, budgets, and timeframes. From contract management and procurement to stakeholder engagement and safety oversight, you'll be at the heart of shaping our district's water systems.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll manage delivering a range of infrastructure projects that are essential to the wellbeing of our district. From the moment a project is scoped to the final handover, you'll be the driving force behind its success.
You'll be managing everything from replacements and renewals to new developments, ensuring each project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. You'll work closely with contractors and consultants, overseeing contracts and making sure all work aligns with Council expectations and national standards. Whether it's preparing project execution plans, tracking budgets, or reporting on progress, you'll be across every detail.
Your role will also involve providing expert advice on our Waters assets and systems, helping to shape how we manage and future-proof our infrastructure. You'll be a key player in ensuring safety is embedded in every stage of the project lifecycle—from early investigations through to construction and final handover.
Collaboration is a big part of the job. You'll work with internal teams, developers, and external partners to ensure our assets are well-managed and our projects deliver real value to the community. You'll also support strategic planning efforts, contribute to asset management plans, and help other departments bring their infrastructure goals to life.
About You
You're a confident project manager with a strong engineering background and a passion for community outcomes. You will bring:
- A degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 5+ years of relevant post-graduate experience, ideally in infrastructure or engineering
- Proven project and contract management experience
- Familiarity with asset management systems and principles
- Excellent coordination and stakeholder engagement skills
- Desirable: Project Management Certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2)
