Wastewater Contracts Engineer

Whangarei, New Zealand

Reference: 6753446

About the role

This position requires someone who can think analytically and manage contracts for waste assets in our district. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure contract needs are addressed in a timely manner and appropriate funding is available. Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering for "Professional Engineer" membership, or equivalent experience, are required. This is a great opportunity to unify our operations across the district. The focus is to work with people from a technical standpoint but also from the customer's perspective, and to collaborate effectively to resolve escalated and complex issues.

Your focus will be to:

  • Deliver high quality contract management for physical works
  • Manage the acquisition of resource consents for capital project activities
  • Provide technical support and advice for the wider team
  • Liaise with all stakeholders and support a customer-first culture

About you

We are seeking a proactive individual who can work well under pressure. Your ability to take both customers and your team on a journey with you is critical so you will be able to translate complex issues to a wide range of stakeholders to ensure a high degree of understanding. There will be times when hard decisions and difficult conversations need to take place, and we're looking for someone who can approach these with tact and diplomacy.

You are a big-picture thinker, solution-focused, and self-motivated. Your ability to prioritise and manage time will be invaluable, along with your experience working in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook). Your background is likely to be in contract/project management, and you will have a strong team-based approach and collaboration skills with the ability to engage, build, and maintain strong relationships at all levels.
