We have a unique opportunity now available for a warm and engaging front of house to join our dedicated team at Clapham's National Clock Museum, on a casual basis. The Museum, located at the Town Basin is the largest and most historically significant collection of Clocks in the Southern Hemisphere. Its inception dates to 1961 when local resident/entertainer/collector Archibald Clapham effectively gifted his amazing collection to the local Council for a nominal sum. Over time this collection has grown to encompass many rare and notable exhibits, drawing visitors from all over home and abroad! Today we are proudly listed amongst Trip Advisors top visitor destinations in Whangārei.

About you

Our successful candidate will be primarily responsible for providing a welcoming and engaging front of house service on behalf of the Museum to ensure a high-quality visitor experience. This means really taking the time to greet visitors appropriately, identify their needs, and provide appropriate solutions.

A day in the job would see our candidate:

• Providing a welcoming experience to visitors, taking the time to make enquiries about the purpose of their visit and communicating service options as appropriate.
• Providing introductory welcome tours to visitors on arrival.

• Assisting your team in ensuring the overall presentation of the museum is clean, well-organised and well-promoted.

• Ensuring the reception area is welcoming and displays/information are kept up to date.

• Ensuring the retail section of the shop is regularly promoted and items are re-stocked when required.

We anticipate our successful candidate will have experience in providing a range of services to customers, with specific experience in front of house reception and retail sales, as well as:

• A genuine passion for the visitor experience
• An interest in history and curios

• Diplomacy and cultural sensitivity

• Good written and oral communication

• Ability to work without supervision and cope under pressure

• Self-motivated with great initiative

The museum is open 7 days a week including public holidays, so candidates who can work with some flexibility is essential.
