About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for someone who is interested in leading our team of six who are responsible for the Territorial Authority functions of the Building Compliance department.  This involves ensuring an effective and efficient monitoring, compliance and enforcement service that meets legislative requirements as well as the needs of our community.

As our Team Leader, you will support the team while overseeing and ensuring the accuracy of compliance monitoring. You will also work on implementing a programmed approach to follow up on outstanding building compliance matters. Additionally, you will provide technical advice on compliance issues, including recent or impending changes, to the public and Council. This will encourage adherence to statutory requirements and enhance knowledge within the District.

Additionally, you'll be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Competent understanding of the relevant legislation and obligations as it pertains to monitoring, compliance and enforcement action,
  • Sound understanding of local government processes,
  • Thorough up to date understanding and practical working knowledge of building act including all recent changes and amendments,
  • Ability to prepare and present evidence to court,
  • Immaculate communication skills, both written and spoken,
  • Proven experience of leading a team and a passion to mentor and supervise staff,
  • A calm persona with the ability to mediate with and resolve conflict in difficult circumstances and with different customers,
  • A natural ability to work methodically and efficiently and to set and meet appropriate standards and deadlines,
  • Experience leading compliance and enforcement functions.
