The Opportunity

Our Venue & Events team are a hard-working, friendly, and supportive team who take genuine pride in attracting, supporting, and delivering memorable events on behalf of WDC, for the benefit of our community. The team are now seeking interest from candidates who really enjoy the buzz and excitement of setting up venues in preparation for a variety of events and conferences.

This role will be based at Forum North in Central Whāngarei which houses the Captaine Bougainville Theatre, the Kotahitanga Exhibition Hall, and Cafler Suite conference rooms. From time to time some travel will be required when hosting events at alternate venues throughout our district. You will need to be physically fit and enjoy working in a flexible environment as some evening/weekend work will be required due to the nature of the industry. This is a practical and hands-on role in a fast-paced environment, so thinking on your feet, being adaptable and taking initiative is a must!

This role will have some flexiblity in part-time hours for the right applicant - please include your preferences in your cover letter for consideration.

Our successful applicant will:

  • Be fit and capable of confidently lifting 20 kgs
  • Be comfortable and experienced with client liaison and customer service
  • Work well autonomously and as a part of a team
  • Complete tasks to a high standard unsupervised
  • Have great attention to detail
  • Comfortable with a range of cleaning duties
  • Have experience in setting up basic event equipment
  • Have a clean driver's licence
