About the Role

We're seeking a Senior Building Control Officer to join our Processing team and elevate our technical expertise. With extensive experience in processing building consent applications, you'll be the technical guru of our team, reviewing plans, specifications, and other construction documentation to ensure high standards and compliance with the New Zealand Building Code. Your role is crucial in maintaining our status as an accredited Building Consent Authority.

You'll lead by example, tackling the more challenging aspects of residential and commercial building control, and confidently navigating complex conversations with a collaborative approach. If you have a passion for building control within a local authority and enjoy mentoring others, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

What You'll Bring:

  • A degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience,
  • Diploma in Building Control Surveying or equivalent,
  • Extensive experience as a Building Officer or similar role,
  • Expert knowledge of building controls and legislation, including the Building Act 2004 and the NZ Building Code,
  • Ability to interpret building plans and specifications,
  • Skills in identifying and managing risk areas,
  • Capability to mentor and develop the technical skills of others,
  • Proficiency in using technology,
  • High levels of motivation and autonomy,
  • Excellent customer liaison skills,
  • A desire to be part of a dynamic, hardworking, and fun team.
