About the Role
We are on the lookout for a Building Control Officer to join our busy team. We are seeking someone with experience in processing commercial building consent applications. Your primary focus will be to review plans, specifications, and other construction documentation to process and grant building consents. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring building consents are completed efficiently, effectively, and to a high standard, whilst contributing to the Council's status as an accredited Building Consent Authority.
About You
You should already hold a technical qualification that meets the Regulation 18 requirements under the Building Consent Authority (BCA) accreditation scheme. You will currently be working in a BCA or have experience working within a BCA as a Building Controls Officer. You should be detail-oriented and keen to join a close-knit, hard-working team. Additionally, you will:
- Hold, or be on a pathway towards a commercial processing competency (Com1-3),
- Be familiar with specified systems and fluent in the drafting of compliance schedules,
- Be able to read, comprehend, and interpret plans and specifications,
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service,
- Communicate technical issues and concepts confidently and clearly,
- Show a high level of competence in the use of technology,
- Adapt quickly to challenges,
- Relate well to others and naturally defuse situations,
- Hold a current, valid driver's licence.
