About the role
Are you an RMA Planner looking to join a dynamic, motivated team that makes a real difference to their community here in the scenic Whangarei District?
We have fantastic opportunities for Resource Consents Planners to join our busy and vibrant team. Whether you are just starting your career in Planning or have years of experience and are eager to tackle complex applications and mentor junior staff, we want to hear from you. Finding the right person is paramount to us so we want to have open discussions around hybrid and flexible work arrangements.
Some of the work you will be involved with include:
- Provide planning advice to the public, consultants, and staff,
- Play an integral role in shaping the plan making process alongside the district plan team,
- Efficiently process resource consent applications within statutory timeframes,
- Lead and manage projects and facilitation pre-lodgment meetings,
- Act as a witness on appeals and mediation, (for Senior Planner only),
- Writing and reviewing notification reports,
- Administer and implement the District Plan and respond to enquiries and correspondence relating to complex development proposals,
- Provide input into process improvement.
About you
Your experience level will determine the specific skills you bring, but we are looking for planners who are passionate about their work and thrive on challenges and variety. You'll be a team player, striving for growth and opportunities while living in our beautiful district.
Some of the additional experience may include;
- A recognized qualification in Resource Management Planning,
- Membership or eligibility for membership in the NZ Planning Institute,
- Confidence to make hard, but well-informed decisions,
- Experience with peer reviewing and the ability to provide valuable feedback,
- An understanding of the Resource Management Act 1991 and related legislation,
- Strong communication and analytical skills,
- Evidence of stakeholder management,
- Experience with preparing for hearings with exposure to mediation and conflict resolution of RMA related matters.
