We are extremely passionate about what we do, and our employees are critical to our success. We are committed to working with our stakeholders to achieve our vision of "collectively creating better, safer and more accessible journeys across Northland".
About the role
As a member of our Regional Operations team, this role ensures that works carried out on the local roading networks are operating safely and being carried out in accordance with the Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Management (CoPTTM) and the conditions of the approved Corridor Access Request (CAR). Field audits of temporary traffic management worksites and general corridor activities are key to the success of this role, as are reinstatement inspections for work completion sign-off.
The Regional Field Compliance Assessor role is an integral part of the Corridor Access team where no two days are the same. A large part of your day will be working out in the field interacting with various utilities, civil and traffic management contractors providing advice and supporting the STMS on worksites to keep workers and road users safe. A small part of the day will be working in the office preparing site checks and completing work completion sign-off in the system.
The holder of this role will be employed by Whangarei District Council and based in Whangarei. You will be part of a close-knit supportive team who work hard together and have fun while they do it.
If you have a background in traffic management, civil and/or utilities working environment or previous experience working for Local Government or contracting in a similar field this role could be yours!
We are seeking a proactive self-starter who understands what a safe worksite looks like and can carry out Site Condition Rating (SCR) audits with confidence. You will bring your strong safety culture background, a passion for improving outcomes and use your common sense to make quick decisions on the spot. You will be able to read a traffic management plan (TMP) and be able to issue a Stop Work Order (SWO) if the situation requires.
You must have well-developed communication skills with a strong customer service focus. You are enthusiastic, solution focused and self-motivated. Your innate ability to manage time will prove invaluable along with your previous experience working with Microsoft Office applications (Word and Outlook) and your ability to learn new systems as required.
Most importantly we want someone with a great attitude who is adaptable and keen to be supported by our Corridor Access team.
