Capital Works Project Manager

The Northland Transportation Alliance (NTA) is a collaboration between the Whangarei, Kaipara and Far North District Councils, Northland Regional Council and Waka Kotahi (New Zealand Transport Agency) to deliver joined-up transportation services for Northland. This holder of this role will be employed by Kaipara District Council and will be based in Whangarei.

About the role:

The Capital Works Project Manager forms part of a team of seven who are responsible for delivering investigation, design and construction of road safety, capacity, resilience, and active-modes improvements for Northland. Reporting to the Capital Works Lead, you will work with the team to provide professional engineering service, managing capital projects to completion to achieve high levels of customer and technical service.

About you:

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone with sound experience in managing roading related projects, who is confident in making decisions within project scope to ensure a good project outcome. Along with great communication skills you will also bring sufficient technical knowledge to hold consultants and contractors accountable for their work. You keep the customer front of mind in your interactions and enjoy working as part of a productive team.

The requirements sought of a candidate for this role are:

  • B Eng, Dip Eng or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years post grad experience managing roading related projects
  • Contract management
  • Project Management
  • Construction Supervision experience
  • Knowledge and experience of NZTA specifications and manuals
  • Drivers Licence
