Team Leader - Resource Consents

Whangarei

The Whangarei District Council, located in the fabulous winterless north is currently looking for an experienced Team Leader to lead a team of resource consents planners and planning consultants within our RMA Consents Department. We welcome interest from those with strong RMA planning experience looking to work on a wide variety of challenging projects while benefitting from a great work life balance.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake a leading role in the overseeing of resource consent applications including those of both regional and national significance. You will also oversee the team's customer service function and obligations in promoting and implementing the district plan. The applicant who will be successful in securing this position:

  • Is confident to make the tough decisions when necessary and deliver required results.
  • Has a sound understanding of the Resource Management Act and the resource consent process.
  • Has significant experience in resource consent processing in New Zealand including representation at the Environment Court
  • Is able to demonstrate highly effective leadership ability.
  • Is capable of providing mentoring and direction to a team of professionals with a wide variety skills and experience.
