Community Development Adviser
Are you our new Community Development Adviser? Do you have a passion for our local communities? This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference for communities across the district. Reporting to the ‘Manager - Community Development', this newly established role will be responsible for ensuring Whangarei District Council effectively supports a wide range of community activity. The successful candidate will facilitate positive community outcomes by supporting and building capability within the community and providing a pivotal point of contact for communities across Council.
Desired attributes include:
- Knowledge and understanding of Tikanga Maori and Te Reo Maori
- Excellent facilitation skills coupled with fluency in Maori customs and protocols
- The ability to identify and work with community groups towards objectives that align with WDC Community Outcomes
- Strong report writing and presentation skills
- An approachable manner, resilient nature and positive outlook
- Demonstrated experience in successfully managing projects
- A good understanding of community and voluntary sectors
